... or populate the world with surreal creatures, full of details. The hand that holds the pen and draws imaginative, maximalistic ink art belongs to Eli Helman, a truly talented artist with a very personal way of taking black and white to a whole new level. Sometimes color is not enough!

Fire and brimstone

Volcano - Red by artberry
Create personalized canvas tote bags at zazzle.com

Today's find is a delicious canvas tote bag that features an ink-drawing of an erupting volcano, skillfully done by Artberry. Lava, ashes, molten rock (plus, some trees and a small house that have every reason to worry!), all in eye-catching red vividness. The eruption of Eyjafjallajokull inspired this artwork and it really conveys the force of nature at play, while maintaining it's pop art qualities. Great job!

Strange kind of beauty

walk by noumeda
View more ""Artsprojekt Postcards

This is a strangely fascinating postcard, featuring ink work from Noumeda. The birds and the running woman give a dreamy, haunting quality to the landscape. Noumeda Carbone's work is mostly monochromatic with small touches of color that explode in surreal ways. Do have a look at her illustrations (shown in her great website as well as her store). She is one of the best, with a strong feminine aura that is both enchanting and unexpected.
As for me, I'll keep staring at those eyes, trying to hear the story they tell:

Inky Letterhead by churchto12
Create letterhead on zazzle

Here is a letterhead you don't see every day! A playful illustration of this little guy spreading ink with his huge pen gives a unique touch to your writing. I do believe that good old snail mail still has an ace up it's sleeve, since it's a far more personal way to communicate -especially with friends who appreciate the time and effort put in creating an interesting letter. This letterhead by TLChurch is funny and unusual enough to keep things cool in your hand-written world.

Hairy slothy

More Sloth Magnets

This is the absolute king of taking it slow. Sloths, the slow-moving, low-metabolism mammals that live in rainforests, inspired Brett Manning to showcase her abilities (and her fine attention to detail) with pens in this great design. She's at her best depicting hairy, rootsy, entangled images, while keeping a sense of lightness and balance.
Take a look at this one:

A great shoe design and an inventive transformation of natural elements into a bizarre (and extremely appealing) fashion item. All this and more, from her store BrettIsAGirl.
Oh, and don't forget to visit Brett's website for more illustration magic (plus some great lettering!).
