Watch this alien eyeball unfold its tentacles, on a great t-shirt designed by the talented D.Silva! It's menacing, yet graceful. This surreal monster looks like it's moving, bobbing slowly up and down before executing an unexpected, swift movement.
D.Silva's designs seem to have a life of their own, a strange tendency to leave their canvas and roam freely among us (well, that would be the stuff nightmares are made of!). He is inspired by tattoos, comics, punk, graffiti, steampunk, video games and animals, and his imagination absorbs them and creates pure gems.

It's not the first time he is featured here (there was this Screaming Flowers post, some time ago) and the reason is obvious: His shop is a must see!

Sight Unseen by BIFOCUS

Mysterious, poetic, dreamlike, strange, philosophical. These are the words I would use to describe this unique card from Understated Junkyard Extravaganza, a shop that -far from being a junkyard- offers a different view on things.
Their cards look like a daydream. Their products are not products, they are small surreal fragments whose copies you may buy.

This may be the best black t-shirt I've seen in quite a while! It's so deceptively simple it makes you think you could design it yourself. Well... you couldn't! It's one of the tricks the talented Jason Freeny of Moist Production pulls on people: he makes it look easy. The fact is that it takes a crazy genius to design these surreal cartoons with Jason's clean and minimal style.

The tiny people of Slinkachu

Tiny people living their everyday lives in the surreal background of our own world. The poetry hidden in the paradoxical images of Slinkachu's art astonished me.

 

Street installations and photography based on concepts both weird and enchanting. You may find more about this unique artist and his work on Slinkachu.com.

 

His new solo show, Concrete Ocean, opens 2nd March 2011 at Andipa Gallery in London. Those in the UK shouldn't miss it for the world. I know I wouldn't!

This mousepad is awesome because people will see it and they'll be all "Aw, what a sweet kitty!" and then they'll read the bottom and they'll be all confused and they'll back out of your office without ever giving you whatever work they wanted you to do. The cat on this mousepad just saved you from work. Also, it eats babies.

Marcel Duchamp, the famous French dadaist and surrealist, would be proud of this creation that celebrates his own weird Mona Lisa experiments.In fact, I like this more -it probably has to do with the Frank Zappa-esque mustache!
This wonderfully absurd postcard is a collage from Objets Trouvés, a store that is not a store but (true to it's name) a handful of assorted dadaist works waiting to be found in the backstreets of zazzle.com.

Here is Dr. Scops, a rather creepy fellow drenched in surreality. I wouldn't try to describe him. There are things that evade description, things so strange and unusual that one has to simply experience.
I can tell you this:
This creature is a doll made by Beth Robinson, a true master of doll making, whose imagination spawns weird characters and whose talent transforms them to great paintings, dolls and photographs. Her creations range from eerily tender to outright scary. Have a look in Beth's Strange Dolls zazzle shop and I bet you'll get hooked and will want to visit her fantastic website too. Who knows, you may end up commissioning something -maybe Dr. Scops's mistress...

Iron Tesla-man

This is quite interesting. These guys perform Black Sabbath's Iron Man, using Tesla coils as guitar amp. The result gives a whole new -crazy- meaning to electric guitar. You've got to love the metal suits and gloves!
All you Tesla minded could also check out this old gem -while waiting for a brand new post concerning your beloved magnificent Serb.

Oh, the hipness of it all...!

Now, where does one start to describe this unbelievable design? For once I'm at a loss for words, so I'll just quote the words of it's creator:

A part-man part-dog hipster. His green singlet like shirt features a double rainbow and the words "What does it mean?". Over the top of his turned up stovepipe blue jeans, he has a pink tutu like skirt. Under one arm is the mounted head of a white unicorn. He also has on a pair of yellow diving flippers and a pair of thick rimmed glasses.

Can you picture someone writing these words straight-faced? It seems that Lee Leplaw Deichmann, the artist behind the great Lee Lee and the Bee store, has tons of weird humor. It's not just the awe-inspiring surreality of this postcard. There are plenty of other unique designs to prove my point:

This is a strangely fascinating postcard, featuring ink work from Noumeda. The birds and the running woman give a dreamy, haunting quality to the landscape. Noumeda Carbone's work is mostly monochromatic with small touches of color that explode in surreal ways. Do have a look at her illustrations (shown in her great website as well as her store). She is one of the best, with a strong feminine aura that is both enchanting and unexpected.
As for me, I'll keep staring at those eyes, trying to hear the story they tell:

There is a Poe-ish charm in this strange design, that I find irresistible. A raven plays a old Victrola phonograph producing ghosts, skulls and hearts (the tell-tale kind, I presume!). This is just a small taste of what is available at the Crankcase shop,  the place where Mark Beagle offers his art on t-shirts and hoodies. His work consists of a unique blend of modern and vintage elements, backed up by strong and surreal concepts.

Made out of meat

Surreality Watch welcomes you to a strange, humorous masterpiece! It's Stephen O'Regan's short film They're made out of meat, based on a short story by the great Terry Bisson -one of science fiction's true legends.
The film won the Grand Prize at the Seattle Science Fiction Museum's 2006 film festival, and unveils the truth about extra-terrestrials, life on Earth, human abductions, sentient beings and... meat! It's funny, weird, thought-provoking and utterly enjoyable.

I do like those cards, but there are plenty other products -and many great designs- to chose from.
