Figures in between
Between life and death? Heaven and hell maybe, or even good and evil? It could mean between different states of consciousness but it doesn't really matter. What matters is that this is a hauntingly great painting by Jaime Zatloukal Best, a very talented lady.These abstract figures showcase her fine work and could look great on your desk. Floating bunny
July is here and I just found a t-shirt that conveys a dreamlike, summer feeling. It's a bunny dreaming about floating in a donut (yep, we keep it surreal enough for you!), the colors are great, the camera angle is delicious and the idea is made to have you smiling all summer long!
The artist is Max Estes, and the design is from his My life as a Bunny product line.
As you can see his talent makes things seem simple but his art is far from it. His work is solidly based on great sense of colors and a fine balance of forms. Most of all, it makes my eyes happy and gives my mind space to breath. Kudos, Max!

Red sun
This superb black t-shirt carries a great painting (by French artist Frederik Bellanger ) called Soleil Rouge (Red Sun). It's a beautiful abstract with spray painting details that remind me of graffiti. The fine balance of the sunset colors he uses and the honeycomb motif are irresistible!
Frederic's art is pop-influenced and the spraying gives it a contemporary, urban flair, but I think that he goes a lot further than just being cool. Check his store and you'll find a great talent.

House of nightmares
Today's selection is dark, intense and -definitely- surreal. Behold the art of Kirsten Brown, owner of the Serpent and Angel store: a house of horrors and nightmares. It's weird rooms present a mosaic of fear and desperation (plus a well-placed H.P.Lovecraft reference) in a great composition.
Does the stairway lead to an exit from this doomed place? I'm not sure. All I can say is that this is a seriously compelling poster. It reminds me of the classic Clive Barker words about everyone being a book of blood.

Chess revisited: The playful cat
This vintage painting combines cats and chess -two of mankind's favorites in a single artful postcard. I wonder if the depicted feline concentrates on it's next move...Anyway, it's only one of the eight "Naughty Cats" available at Lodgehouse, although I believe it's the more intriguing of the series.There is a sense of hidden menace in here -or maybe I am biased by the cat's predatory nature.
Some may find this cute, I find it both cute and disquieting. You can't beat that, now, can you?

Mechanical nature
Here's a really stylish and original shirt, depicting a tree that somehow consists of machine parts. A sweet design that blends the natural with the robotic. I like the idea and the execution, found in Artberry. The artist is Nicolette Amanda Berry from Cardiff, Wales.

The Dada Bard
Here is a glorious Shakespeare portrait, indeed! It consists of a wild conglomeration of hidden images, remindful of Giuseppe Arcimboldo . The artist, Dax Norman of Daximonious, does with sketches what the Renaissance master did with fruits, vegetables and books -and that's quite a surreal way to approach art! I love this design in the ruined shirt, just as it is.
Dax gets even weirder when he pays homage to the style of Hieronymus Bosch in his own psychedelic and dadaistic way. Great paintings to cover your upper body or give a trippy feeling to your wall!
Regardless of the things I have chosen to present here, his style is really vibrant and exploding with crazy colors -nicely balanced ones, mind you! Find more about this unique painter from Texas and his manifold talents in Dax Norman's great site.
