This great French artist has a way of mixing scifi, fantasy, cuberpunk, gothic and symbolism that transcends the norms. This ominous postcard has it's secrets, too. The decrepit interchange is a strong image but what sets it apart is the rope hanging above the highway. It hints of human despair, madness and solitude. It oozes humanity! That's what sets Aurélien apart and makes me come back to his work again and again. I'm sure you will feel the same way once you look deeper.

New Babbage, the magnificent steampunk city in Second Life is the place where steampunk-minded people from around the world gather to roleplay and create imaginative technology extravaganzas. This fine poster celebrates the city's second annual Airship Regatta that took place at the beginning of 2010. It's a great souvenir from the real life surrealism of having strange and unique worlds to explore (and, in a way, to inhabit) right at your fingertips. Plus, who doesn't love airships?!
You can find this print -and many others- in Steamweaver General Merchandise, the ultimate shop for all things concerning New Babbage. The designer and shop-owner comes by the name of Aeolus Cleanslate, which is really distinguished for an avatar if you ask me.

Made out of meat

Surreality Watch welcomes you to a strange, humorous masterpiece! It's Stephen O'Regan's short film They're made out of meat, based on a short story by the great Terry Bisson -one of science fiction's true legends.
The film won the Grand Prize at the Seattle Science Fiction Museum's 2006 film festival, and unveils the truth about extra-terrestrials, life on Earth, human abductions, sentient beings and... meat! It's funny, weird, thought-provoking and utterly enjoyable.

Ninja jesters, two-legged mutant mutts, Joris-Karl Huysmans and Nicola Tesla's forehead have something in common: they are in good company at Segrid's dimensionally transcendental store! Segrid, aka Patrick Reinhart, is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to strangely humorous and surreal designs. His Roar skateboard is one of my all-time favorites -plus, it may be the only mustachioed skateboard around!

An an eight-pointed star with arrows at the ends has come to symbolize chaos, a state without order or predictability. This symbolization was conceived by the great British science fiction author Michael Moorcock, mostly known for his Elric of Melniboné works, a man of such diverse talent that cannot be confined by any genre.

This was my inspiration for the creation of Chaos Revisited product line, a study on the artistic possibilities of this symbol and a reference to the unpredictable and ever changing aspects of Man (or Woman, if you will!), of the world and of reality itself.
I see in it a cousin to the Tao symbol, or even to the humorous Holy Chao of Discordianism. In my mind, it carries similar connotations, bringing forth a fluidity of thought, opening new creative ways and helping fight dogmas. A liberating sigil to enable paradigm-shifting, to create new paths and to demolish our certainties. In a way, a symbol of what life itself does!

There are many ways to envision a trip to the future and getting there by a trolley car is alright by me -especially with this cool retro design. Olden times walk hand in hand with sci-fi in Loki Times, a gallery that supplements the Loki Times website, where strange fact and fringe info happily dwell. Paranormal, UFO, sci-facts and strange theories are the cornerstone for every surreal-inclined person (yes, I'm mainly referring to me!). If they co-exist with great t-shirts -such as this one- so much the better!

When it comes to retro-futurism (the depiction of the future the way they saw it back in the '20s to '60s), Retropolis Travel Bureau is the definitive place to visit. Look at this fine mug: looks like we are caught in one of our granddad's loved science fiction movies. I really like the way the warm background compliments the blue-grey image. The attention to detail and the execution is superb!
In Retropolis T.B. there are numerous well-designed (and tastefully humorous!) designs. Some of the best are offered on business cards, like the one below:
