Great artwork here, by the multitalented Jim Mahfood and his 40oz store. A bold illustration, with a boxer as the main character, that showcases his comic book experiences. I love the lines and the color combination. Jim's work is tense and vibrant and you should really check his great blog , too -many fine sketches to be found there.

Monkey business

A monkey girl (70s styled) looks at a guinea pig: a cultural mashup in pink! This exquisite piece of work comes from Matthew Dunn, an artist with great ideas and a strange sense of humor -just what the doctor ordered!
His art is strongly based on comics (just look at the camera angle of this design!) but doesn't stop exploring new styles and concepts. I love his illustrations, his colors and -most of all- his surreal view on things!

Devil and the one who weeps

Fine arts and objects of everyday use go fine together in my book. Provided we're talking about strong, personal art, the gritty kind, the kind that bites you. That's why I love the work of Micah Luke (aka 6:8), an extremely talented spray paint artist. I particularly like the sober mood in this piece (The one who weeps), shown here on a beautiful bookmark. Mikah is great when he does color but look at the strength of his b/w, too:

If I had to put a subtitle to this one, it would be "Impact of reality". There are more impactful things to be found in Micah Luke's site. Raw, vivid and totally un-generic!
