Watchman's Note
This is a journey to the best designs in the world of Zazzle.com. Handpicked and presented (along with my own artwork) by yours truly, the driving force behind Surreality designs. We'll discover great artists and special products -mostly with a taste for the eccentric. But let us not confine ourselves in specific genres: the possibilities are endless and so is the great art one can find at Zazzle.

Strange mood
It's been some time since I last worked on a photography-based design. The sky in this one was so vivid that I only had to fiddle a little with the contrast and saturation. Something was missing, though. Until I thought of the swing in the sky. I believe it has an otherwordly quality. It sure looks good in print, if I do say so myself.
I was not sure about the title. By looking at this image I can tell that something of great importance is about to happen. I kept the first thing that came into mind: a rain of blood. Can you hear the wind blowing and the squeaking of the swing's chains?

Fair and square
Here's a straightforward and simple design by Zerotees (a store where humorous designs abound). As simple as the red square that takes the place of the usual heart symbol. A smart and funny idea that's difficult not to like. Cherish pixels! It's the stuff virtual life is made of. Because, after all, it's hip to be square!

EyePod
This t-shirt is brilliant! Not the easiest color to match (you can customize it, of course) but the idea is so clever, simple and well-executed, it's amazing. Forget modern gadgetry: we're talking about the real EyePod. Gwen Murphy has a talent for the charmingly off-beat and the designs to prove it. But this here is so stylish and surreal that I'm getting really envious!

Tender, vintage and eccentric!
The stuff you can find in Pumpkin & Honeybunny is mostly based on vintage elements. At times they are tender, sweet and nostalgic but some times they have this touch of unreal weirdness I really like! Take this birthday card, for example. I love the colors and the composition, but what sets it really apart is those trapeze artist children: aloof, almost solemn. I really like this card.
Another great design is this vintage pink piggy:
I believe it looks super-cool in this tote, but you can find it in several other products as well. It's playful, cute and, yet, dreamilike.

Aztec Uroborus
Mystrinor specializes in pagan and mythology designs in a stylized monochromatic style. My personal favorite is this Aztec depiction of Uroborus, the ancient symbol of a serpent or dragon swallowing it's own tail. It's the archetype of rebirth, eternal return, the duality of existence and of alchemy's Great Work.
The detail and intricacy of this design don't belittle it's clarity.

Library stroll
Being a bookworm, I can't help but loving this design by Courtney Snyder's Memoir. It looks awesome on a mousepad but I love it on a coffee mug too. Here, check it out:
It makes me think of sitting on a warm living room during those cold winter nights that lay ahead, reading and sipping hot coffee. Courtney Snyder creates interesting, colorful designs -it was difficult choosing this one! She has an interesting blog with background stories about her work.

Pop psychology
The Original Pink Freud T-Shirt by Zoey_London
Buy a t-shirt online from Zazzle
Pink Freud? Oh yes! A striking design by Zoey London, makes a fantastic t-shirt. The surreality of this idea simply amazes me. And yet, it doesn't stop here. Our collective unconscious is attacked by more pop music/psychology/whatever eye candy:

The little monster in us all
A great design by The Monstery store, "Little Monster" seems to be conceived with children in mind. But let's not kid ourselves: there is a monster hidden in us all, sometimes scary and sometimes playful!
I love the strong, simple colors and the font used. Sweet but not cutesy. In the words of it's designer, QueenHare, "The perfect design for anybody who has ever broken the rules."
Yep, that's me, alright. Maybe that's you, too!
